My name is Jan van Rooijen and I’ve been hunting wild boar here in the Netherlands since my father taught me the ways. Just recently, I’ve been discovering the possibilities nightvision technology opens up and I wanted to share my experiences and knowledge of the gear with other hunting enthusiasts.
I don’t restrict myself to larger animals but when numbers permit, I prefer boar and deer to hares, pheasants, etc. I prefer precision-targeting to high-speed hare-chases. Luckily for me, a friend of mine has a good, large hunting ground that, season permitting, usually has a ready crop of cull animals to spare. I lived for a while in the UK on business and found it much more difficult to find hunting spots. It was a pleasure to be back in the Netherlands again.
Days spent in the range doing what man does best are usually rounded off nicely with a post-hunt beer but there’s something even better about night-time hunting. The silence, the adrenaline, the woody smell and the catching-your-own-meat triumph… these simple things are made infinitely better when experienced in conjunction with top-of-the-range equipment, meaning precision kills and swift, clean handling.
The purpose of this site is to share the joy I find in hunting through providing fellow hunters with information on (and my own evaluations of) some of the most up-to-the-minute developments in nightvision hunting equipment. I’ll be adding to the site as I try more new equipment and may also include tips on hunting in different countries, relevant legal information, good suppliers, etc.
